What is a Stock? And why should you invest in Stocks?

Investing in stocks means owning a part of a listed company. Investors can earn returns from:

  • Capital gain – from the rising stock price driven by company performance and growth trends
  • Dividend – profit sharing from the company to its shareholders

Stocks are a great way to build wealth in the long term, especially when investing in companies with strong fundamentals and growth potential.

Currently, there are over 800 companies listed on the Thai Stock Exchange, growing from 100 points in 1975 to more than 1,400 points by the end of 2024. This has resulted in an average return of about 12% per year and an average dividend yield of 4.01% annually. This shows the growth of the Thai economy, where investors can continue to explore opportunities through individual stocks or new industry sectors to build their portfolio and reach their goals (Source: SET as of March 16, 2025)
